Dino Felipe is a complete spaz – a creative, entertaining, and insanely productive spaz. With numerous collaborations spanning almost as many labels as genres, it's hard to get an exact count, but the bedroom genius has released at least 50 records out of his Miami home over the last decade. The sound is expansive and often unpredictable, but usually combines art-damaged, Casio-derived, Dan Deacon-esque electro beats with layers of wailing no-wave noise and buried-alive, post-punk vocals. Sometimes it shifts to incorporate gentler textures and acoustic guitar, but always encompassing a nearly-accessible, pre-4AD Ariel Pink cacopho-pop sensibility. And though he's earned international accolades for his work across numerous visual and sound mediums, he's still well-revered in both basement pop and electronic/glitch circles, having traded covers with DIY pioneer R. Stevie Moore and releasing material through Schematic Records. Felipe's high-energy performances aren't to be missed, though we can't say for sure whether he'll incite a dance party or violent seizures when he hits The Vault tonight (702 Main St, 8pm) with This Heart Electric, Medumpolis, and Malaria Control.
