The Drum Machine Report is a weekly posting on buffaBLOG designed to gear up the lovers of beats for all events and parties in the coming week involving styles of Dance and Electronic Music. If you’re not in the know, Buffalo has a modest and diverse scene for these types of events. There is always something going on in the fair Queen City of Buffalo, and it seems that every weekend there are parties involving music of this nature. The Drum Machine Report is a sometimes opinionated summary of what’s happening in this scene.
This weekend there is no shortage of parties to attend at every end of the dance music spectrum. Check out what’s going on below:

BIG BAD WOLF
252 delaware ave. Buffalo, NY
Tonight’s event at Big Bad Wolf will feature Pennsylvania Bass DJ and member of the 814 Bass Crew (Erie), NATASK. The event will feature some re-workings and mixing of some of Pink Floyd’s most popular songs! Not sure if its original remixes or what, but definitely sounds cool to check out. In support will be three of Buffalo’s best Dubstep/DnB DJs, POTENT J, LOKI, and BIG BASHA.

CLUB MARCELLA

Old school Juglists will come out of the woodwork to check out the legendary JUMPING JACK FROST, one of the true OGs of DnB music in the UK. Along side him will be another big name and skilled turntablist CAPITOL J from Canada. These two big names will be supported by Buffalo DnB specialists KILLSOUND, JOS3, ABSTYLES, and GANJABOAT playing not just DnB styles, but also some Dubstep, Electro, and House. Featuring MCs TRIGGER (BIG TRIGGS), THE CHIEF, and BRAKA D.

9p-2a
$25/All Ages
TOWN BALLROOM
681 main st. Buffalo, NY
ABOVE & BEYOND is a Trance music group based out of the UK who are renowned for their production of progressive and catholic trance. In the same ilk as Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Gareth Emery, if you like trance then you get the idea. Presented by Factory Nightlife, it will be interesting to see and hear this type of Trance/House music in this space. I can’t recall anything similar to this in the Ballroom before. Should be a pretty unique event. Trance people are an a league of their own, but each time A&B has played here it’s been received extremely well.

SOUNDLAB
110 pearl st. Buffalo, NY
I’ve been looking forward to this particular show for several months. Mostly because all three artists on the bill are doing some of the coolest and freshest work in the world right now. CHRISSY MURDERBOT, aside from being super swaggy is producing some of the Juke sounds coming out of Chicago right now. Also from Chicago, THE HOOD INTERNET are the best Mash-up artists on the planet (better than GirlTalk right now). And Star Slinger continues to deal out remixes and original tracks that are strait fire. It may be on a Sunday night, but THIS IS NOT A SHOW TO FORGET ABOUT. These three acts are extremely relevant to what is cool and hip in this country right now! I highly recommend it.
Other events to check out this weekend include:
_5/11 FRIDAY NIGHT RIOT at Bayou 79 w. chippewa st. Buffalo, NY. Featuring DJs: SUNGLASSES MIKE and NICKY STEEZ
_5/11 FROSTY TONE at Broadway Joe’s 3051 main st. Buffalo, NY. Featuring DJs: E-MISSION and TEMPERS ROUGE, along with DROP D, THE VERDICT, BIG BASHA, and JAH CREATION MC
_5/12 FRICTION at DBGB’s 253 allen st. Buffalo, NY. Featuring Performances by, BILLY DREASE WILLIAMS, NATURAL INGREDIENTS, KINDA LIKE DREAMIN, DJ CUTLER, and DJ SANDPAPER. “Friction Goes Hip-Hop” this month, so check out the best monthly danceparty with a special Hip-Hop twist!
Any local submissions and suggestions for events please contact buffaBLOG or myself directly. Buffalo likes to rage and will continue to do so past 4am, until either your brain melts or the sun rises. Much Love.
