In my eyes there are two kinds of hip-hop fans. Those that understand the culture and know its roots, and everybody else. If you consider yourself of the former, then Rakim is a name you're certainly familiar with. If you are of the latter, listen up.

Rakim is regarded by many in the game as the most gifted MC's of all-time...period. He's influenced countless rappers, spawned endless clones, and was even nominated for induction into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame, with his counterpart, Eric B (Eric B. & Rakim is also probably the hottest rap duo ever). The Source ranked him #1 on their list for Top 50 lyricists of all-time. Many of today's hottest rappers consider him their biggest influence, occupying that rarified air amongst the Biggies, Tupac's, and KRS-Ones of this world. In what is now considered the Golden Age of rap, Rakim was the uncrowned king. Do I need to go on?

So it goes without saying, that we, lovers of hip-hop, are excited to announce that Rakim will be performing live at Town Ballroom Friday, November 22nd ($25 in advance, $30 day of). This is not a concert people. This is an event. Prepare. There is only one king still standing, and his name is Rakim.
