Katy B - "I Like You"
UK pop singer Katy B is expected to release her new EP, 5 AM, November 4th and has already shared the title track. "I Like You," the latest single from the record, was produced by George FitzGerald, known for his 90's house inspired work and features a straightforward, driving garage flavored beat. With dark synth sounds coupled with a confident delivery, the hook-heavy track has undeniably British club feel that is bound to tear up dancefloors.

Mount Kimbie - "Made To Stray" (DJ Koze Remix)

The excellent new album from Mount Kimbie, Cold Spring Fault Less Youth, has brought on a slew of remixes from names like Kyle Hall, Lee Gamble, and now Berlin's DJ Koze joins that list with a stunning reinterpretation of "Made To Stray." Like much of his 2013 LP, Amygdala, the track balances strange, almost psychedelic elements with precise rhythms that border on hypnotic. Stretching to over eight minutes, the blissful remix is as sonically adventurous as we've come to expect from the producer while retaining the warmth that make even his zaniest tracks a rewarding listen.

Disclosure - "Apollo"

One of the biggest stories in dance music this year has been the breakthrough of young British duo Disclosure, whose debut LP, Settle, is a contender for album of the year. Combining elements of garage, house, and bass music coupled with crisp production, the pair make tracks that pack an energy that the genre hasn't seen for some time. While some Settle was more pop leaning, the pair get back to their roots on their latest track "Apollo." With soaring vocals, huge synth sounds, and driving bass, the massive track is yet another hit for the Lawrence brothers to add to their impressive resume.

Common - "I Want You" (Kaytranada Edition)

Montreal producer Kaytranada has been quickly rising with tracks like "At All" and remixes of Azealia Banks and Missy Elliot. His latest rework of rapper Common's "I Want You," is a bouncing, soulful take on the original with just the right amount of dancefloor flair. With a thick bass line and grooving percussion, hip hop and house elements are brought together perfectly to make for an absolutely infectious track.

Mix of the Week: Little Dragon

Swedish dance pop band Little Dragon recently put together this mix full of current house sounds from South Africa that are said to be the inspiration for their new album expected out this spring. Blending 90's house and tribal flavored jams, it's an impressive and energetic display of sounds from a region known for it's rich tradition of dance music.

Picking Up The Slack For MTV: George FitzGerald - "I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)"

Accompanying George FitzGerald's latest track is a playful and seductive music video. Categorized by many critics as a step towards ordinary for the Berlin based British Producer, "I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)" is a club banger suitable for many moods. To go along with this track is a music video chronicling the night into daytime escapades of a group of German youths. The video compliments the heart of the music quite well and shows glimpses of faded Berlin night.

Disco Infiltrator: August 16th

This is the first edition of a new weekly feature here at buffaBLOG highlighting the best new tracks from the world of electronic music. As dance music has seen an incredible rise in profile recently, countless innovative producers have started earning recognition for their craft, blowing up seemingly overnight because of an infectious track or sound they've created. This column will take a look at some of the more interesting sounds happening within a genre that's been known to constantly push boundaries by seamlessly blending disparate styles and sounds.

London producer Fort Romeau is known for his atmospheric take on house that uses slow builds and deep grooves to make for a hypnotic sound with an obvious 80's influence. His latest track, "Stay True," is a deep cut with a bassline that evokes the noir disco sound of Chromatics. The gorgeously composed vocal sample provides an added element of depth and keeps things interesting over the seven minute track. The producer's Stay/True EP is out September 16 on Matthew Dear's Ghostly International Label.

Producer Machinedrum released "Eyesdontlie" late last month as the first single on his new label, Ninja Tune. The single's B-side, "Body Touch" features a slower tempo than we're used to hearing from the artist, but doesn't sacrifice any of the infectiously looped vocals and heavy percussion. The track has a dark, grooving atmosphere with an R&B and Trap vibe. Look for the producer's upcoming album Vapor City to be released September 23.

Prolific UK producer George FitzGerald's latest track, "I Can Tell (By The Way You Move)," is an energetic, bright slice of house with a memorable hook, funky synth bass line and a vocal sample placed underneath the hook that helps carry the tracks already driving rhythm. FitzGerald recently signed to Domino records imprint Double Six, and will hopefully be releasing more tunes like this one in the future.

Listener's Digest: George FitzGerald - "Thinking of You"

Debuted on his BBC Essential Mix last month, George Fitzgerald returns with another House monster in “Thinking of You.” Fitzgerald cloaks the buildup underneath an inhuman vocal sample, cut-up and smashed back together to sound like a constant come-up. The effect is kinetic and tactile; the almost overwhelming pay-off Fitzgerald leads you to is all metallic hand-claps and fat minor synth-tones. Unlike “Child,” Fitzgerald’s signature tune from last year, this track isn’t fun, it’s menacing and dark.
