It's that time of year again. The Adam Mickiewicz Polish Library and Dramatic Circle, otherwise known as the Polish Library (612 Fillmore Ave.), will be hosting the fourth Annual Buffalo Decency Rally, showcasing the best in local punk rock, hardcore and indie, on two separate floors. The absolute cream of the crop in terms of creativity, power, heart, and attitude will be on display and I am way psyched. If the past few years are any indication, this will be one memorable and wild night. Plus it's cheap ($5) so you have no reason not to go.

Anybody who's been a part of the Buffalo punk rock scene in the last few years should be familiar with Feral Kid Records. The label's been putting out strong releases by great local bands (Rochester included) and have, by and large, helped build the scene, all whilst maintaining the DIY ethic that has helped the community grow. Aaron and the Burrs (listen below) Able Danger, Plates, Brown Sugar, Mayday!, Human Touch, Rational Animals...the list goes on and on. Great bands. Fast music. Raw spirit.

You can now check out many of Feral Kid's finest releases, thanks to the new bandcamp format. It's extremely user friendly and makes access easier than you can imagine. By the way, check out Bad People and Utah Jazz (two bands associated with Feral Kid) at the Bird Haus tonight, along with Bucket Flush. It's Utah Jazz' tape release.

Very few local bands get me raging as hard as Utah Jazz, a female fronted punk rock band featuring the singer of one of my other favorite locals, Mayday! (Are they still around???) Too catchy to ignore, too punk to dismiss, this is fun, edgy, and bonkers r'n'r all in one package. Listen below and get a feel. Tonight, the Jazz will be playing with Resist Control, another local, along with Cleveland's Lucha Eterna, and Rochester's Beastman. Celebrate your hump day at the Jungle Gym (357 Breckenridge). It's an early one (7pm) and only costs a mere $6, so you'll have money for all the Pabsts you'll inevitably consume during and after the show.

Over the last few months, the Jungle Gym  has begun making a name for itself as a criminally underrated small venue for great music and mayhem. Where else in Buffalo can you see a show in the basement and then go up a floor and jump around in a room full of mattresses (it is really liberating). Anyway, tonight they are hosting some awesome bands for only $6 and you should really consider coming out.

Potty Mouth is from New England and describe themselves as "sonic babewave." This might be the best description I have read in some time. They play a surf tinged brand of punk perfect for warm summer nights like tonight.



Chemical Peel: Raucous garage rock that is fast and fun. What more do you need really?



Utah Jazz: More raucous garage rock of the fast and fun variety. Buffalo's own Utah Jazz have been quietly building a well deserved following and are not to be missed.

Mallwalkers: As buffaBlog's Handsome Dan beat reporter, I have discussed Mallwalkers several times in recent weeks. 11 people, horns, punk, funk, Mallwalkers are a real hoot and a half.


I should, by now, have made it abundantly clear that this will be a fantastic show. Bands will be starting promptly at 9 pm, so beeline down from Jesus and Mary Chain and catch this one at the Jungle Gym.

I like dirty, raw rock'n'roll and punk rock. The sleazier, the dirtier, and the dancier(is that a word?) the better. I especially like some of the tapes Drug Party has been putting out lately. Featuring great locals such as Mallwalkers, Utah Jazz and the Fucking Hotlights, you can buy tapes for cheap over at their site or download the bands musics through Drug Party's bandcamp. Check out some rad new Hotlights tracks, get down on the female-fronted Father Ignorant demo, and see what else the Drug Party dudes have to offer. Definitely feeling Dirt Eyes lately.

Stop what your doing right now and watch the video below. What your seeing is a typical Spits gig, recorded in all its drunken glory. Budweiser, couches crowd surfing, fatness, childish antics, animal hats and good old fashioned punk rock are all part of the fun that is the Spits, those legendary rabble rousers from Seattle. Tonight the group graces (disgraces?) our presence at Soundlab along with some other most excellent achievers. Also on the bill is the haunted funhouse known as TV Ghost, Utah Jazz (Buffalo) and the Narcs (Rochester). Surely the most fun and, dare I say, retarded, show of the night!
