Rage is a word sometimes used to describe moments of extreme anger. Rage is also a word we use to describe moments of extreme partying. Excessive passion through celebration. Tiptoeing the line of profligacy can be fun and dangerous. Oscar Wilde said “Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess.” This is the proliferation of rage. Those with positions such as Oscar’s, should be cautious of their outward behavior. There are traps around every turn. The main concern should be the expulsion of complacency, not lack of moderation. Temperament plays an important role in everyone’s lives. Rage belongs in the realm of anger. Complete and utter ecstasy should protrude through the surface of our celebrations. Not everyone will have a mystic experience of self-transcendence, just have a good and safe time out with your friends
Such opportunities for reflection will be available for tuned ears and dancing feet in the city of Buffalo this week, What better time than in the final chapter of this calendar year?
thursday 11/10
after dark and factory nightlife present:
FIGURE
9p-1230a
$16 adv. $20 dos./All Ages
TOWN BALLROOM
681 main st. Buffalo, NY
FIGURE returns again to Buffalo this year. This time around he will headline the Town Ballroom. Thats quite a jump-up from co-headlining Soundlab back in May. That’s probably a testament to Josh Gard’s growing popularity. With his advances towards more and more drumstep, he has pie piped minions of young dubstepers on the bandwagon. Clever themes such as monsters and cool illustrative art, have boosted Figure on a massive level. In a nutshell, this is what the state-side dubstep scene is morphing into. So hop on the wagon for the ride of your life. Also performing will be THE KILLABITS out of Toronto, who I would say are safe to compare with Zed’s Dead. They’re just younger. Local support will be provided by DJs MEDISON and BROTHER BEAR going back to back with the goal of dropping scud missiles on the Ballroom dance floor along with the boys from HXLY.

FRICTION:TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY

DBGB’S

It’s very hard to believe that two years have passed since the QCC conceived the FRICTION party. Nevertheless time goes by. Old friends. New faces. This night is about having a good time, and spending it with your friends on the dancefloor. Keep up the tradition. And keep going hard Queen City Cartel, you have serviced us with many many fun nights. Friction has been and will always be the best. Cheers. To celebrate this momentous occasion, “we’re having ribs.” Just kidding, not sure if there will be ribs but there will definitely food, and an open-bar from 9p-10p! Oh yeah! How can one focus on that when PAUL KEUNZI is opening the night? He’ll be followed by MEDISON. Then in the primetime slot will be STUNTMAN. Can’t wait to see what surprises he has in store. Rewind. Then after that will be BROTHER BEAR and LOONEY TUNES for the real cray cray shit. Feel me? See you on the scene!
wednesday 11/16
mnm presents:
INFECTED MUSHROOM
9p-1230a
$25/All Ages
TOWN BALLROOM
681 main st. Buffalo, NY
Proprietors of the psytrance genre, INFECTED MUSHROOM has been around for a while. Coming out of the same arena as artists such as Hallucinogen and Prometheus, IM has broader influences, and the skills of instrumentation making them a unique international act. The show at the Ballroom next Wednesday will be a live performance incorporating said instrumentation. Their newer music uses heavy rock guitar riffs, bordering on metal. Whereas their older stuff sounds more trance like and ravey. If you have never seen them live it is quite the experience. They usually travel will cool lights and an interesting stage show. Infected Mushroom plays all over the world, and are recently coming off of the famed Burning Man festival, where apparently they epically serenaded freaks young and old under a starry desert night.
Other events happening this weekend include:
IGLOO MUSIC VOL.3 Friday 11/11/2011 11p-4a 21+ no cover at Empire Grill 1435 hertel ave. Buffalo NY
Also check out BONES’ witch house edit of TATU-All the Things She Said. Available for download below. Super creepy and cult.
Remember to show your true colors, and always take responsibility for your opinions. Much love.
