A friend of mine posted to facebook a cellphone picture of one of the “Buzz” blurbs that Mary Kunz Goldblum writes for The Buffalo News. This is the only way I would’ve seen this article, as I am now a selective reader of the Buffalo newspaper. She referenced a ratings website called Bundle.com that rated Buffalo the least fashionable city in the country. Link to the article HERE. Kunz Goldblum suggested that we as Buffalonians embrace the statistic and run with it. Well I say, THIS AGGRESSION WILL NOT STAND, MAN. Bundle.com, you totally suck ass balls. The bogus way that you compiled the statistics cannot possibly create the necessary divide between the hot college girls of Elmwood and the women who still perm with Aquanet in Cheektowaga! What’s more, is that Brooklyn, NY and Portland, OR and many other fine cities with trend setting youths are among the “least fashionable.” They who calculated Irvine, CA among other extremely wealthy places in the States as the most fashionable, need only take a closer look at some of those city’s celebrity inhabitants. Such as Miley Cyrus, who seems to always be going for that signature Portland junkie look. Don’t get me wrong, Buffalo is behind the curve, still, a little. I work in the country. I have seen a woman with a mullet. I HAVE ACTUALLY SEEN A WOMAN WITH A MULLET! But Buffalo has racks on racks on racks, going on, in the fashion sense. We have many independent clothing boutiques, and a whole vintage-clothing scene! If this statistic give Buffalo any legs to run with, it will be those sexy legs of creativity.
Saturday is another fake drinking holiday. Cinco de Mayo, an actual Mexican holiday muddied down to another Buffalo excuse for getting obliterated. Wrapping up this string of months with a day you wanna forget. I’m gonna start campaigning for Flag Day to be a day where everyone paints their tats red, white, and blue, and we do shots called bald eagles! Anyhow, there are some pretty good things going on this weekend. Check out the dance music listings below for what is claiente this weekend in Buffalo:

My last experience with ESKMO was in San Francisco at Outside Lands last summer. Maybe it's because I was drinking wine at the show in the evening with a thousand San Francisco Eskmo loyalists, but it was a bit too heady for me. Eskmo truly is a brilliant composer. His music is can be categorized as a glitchy cacophony of natural and manmade sounds in opposition and congruency. I won't use the word intelligent, but heady for sure. Opening the show will be Papi Chulo and ma man Stuntman.
