Picking Up the Slack for MTV: Explosions in the Sky

Since joining this blog about a year and a half ago, I believe I have used Texas post rock outfit Explosions in the Sky for this MTV feature two or three times now.  And while I prefer not to use repeated bands for this kind of post, the epic instrumentalists just keep giving me reason to turn back to them.  Their latest visual masterpiece is for "Postcard from 1952", one of the better tracks off the band's latest album Take Care, Take Care, Take Care.  If the nostalgia filled video reminds you a bit of 2011's Tree of Life, well you are on to something as one of the directors of the video, Peter Simonite, worked cinematography on Terrence Malick's film.  Like the film, most of the video for "Postcard" seems to be viewed through the vantage point of children as certain events we may take for granted now, like blowing out a birthday candle, running through a sprinkler or those endless summers of playing outside, are beautifully shot.  This band does no wrong when it comes to videos.  Enjoy this video while it takes you back to what seemed to be a much simpler time.

Thanks so much for posting our video! It looks as if you need a different link for the video, however. Here you go:
