Tonight: Prawn


This isn't the first time Top Shelf Records has sent one of their top-tier emo revivalist bands through Buffalo - tonight's offering is Prawn, whose clean guitars and angsty vocals sound like Joan of Arc if they calmed down a little and tried to put a little structure to their songs.

Tonight's show is at The Lair and starts at 6:00pm. The support for tonight is incredible, featuring Buffalonian support from Del Paxton, Figurehead, and Alleys. Rochester is sending over Barbarossa. $10.

Buffalo's Alleys Continue Emo's New Wave

Emo is back! I guess it's semi-official at least. Maybe we're just lumping every imperfect, heartfelt band into that one big category... Needless to say, one of Buffalo's newest emo offerings is Alleys, who self recorded their debut EP, It Happened Because They Left, and had it mixed by GCR's Jay Zubricky. Combining clever wordplay ("quell" is a personal favorite) with bouncy guitar riffs, Alleys could draw comparisons to now-defunct Rochester band Keeler, or emo mainstays like Everyone Everywhere or You Blew It!  Check them out below.
