Electronic jam super-group Conspirator have separated themselves from being just a spin-off of The Disco Biscuits. Forming in 2004, Disco Biscuits members Aaron Mangner and Marc Brownstien started a new musical journey that is now no-longer just a side project. Tonight, they are making what has become a common tour-stop at the Town Ballroom, one of their favorite venues to play in. Coming off their latest release, the Unleashed EP, the band has added Pendulum's tour drummer KJ Sawka along with Conspirator regular and Raq guitarist Chris Michetti. What's more is that on this tour, they have brought along their friends Break Science, Adam Deitch and Borahm Lee, whose duo has made waves and gained a lot of new fans in the electronic jam scene in the past two years. Both bands will take the stage with a high level of good energy, so if you are a fan of this type of music this is a show you would regret to miss. Even if you can appreciate talented live drumming, the quality of these two individuals performing tonight in Sawka and Deitch is paramount and again not to be passed over. If when reading the title to this post you thought "didn't they come in September of last year and also maybe March?" Well, you are 100% correct. Conspirator just can't stop coming to Buffalo and I believe I couldn't be more pleased. Conspirator is hot and are forever keeping their game up to not become stale. Comprised of Aron Magner and Marc Brownstein, Keyboardist and Drummer respectively, of the Disco Biscuits. This side project of The Disco Biscuits has been the strongest showing of any to come from the band. These two musicians bring a new wave of electro to the stage every night all while keeping their Disco Biscuit roots strongly present. Joining the two for this evening is long time friend and collaborator Chris Michetti of the psychedelic jamband RAQ and drummer Adam Deitch of such acts as Pretty Lights, Lettuce, and Break Science. Tonights show takes place at the Town Ballroom and doors open around 8pm and tickets running $24. Eliot Lipp will be getting things rolling, so watch the first period of the Sabres game and then on head down to the ballroom where the game is sure to be on the big screen.
Congrats Buffalo, more and more bands are coming back to our fine city multiple times in the same year. This looks damn good for us and to other bands wondering if they should play here should really take note. Brothers Past just stopped by for their second trip and now Conspirator has come back for their second gig in just six months. Over the last few years, Conspirator has developed in to a serious power house mix of electro-house, techno, dub, dnb, rock, and just about everything in between. Starting out as just a duo consisting of Disco Biscuits bassist and keyboardist, Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner respectively, tband has now branched off in to sometimes a trio or even a four piece band, with the likes of drummer Darren Shearer(the new deal), guitarist Chris Michetti(RAQ), and drummer Mike Greenfield(Lotus).
I often hear Conspirator referred to as better than The Disco Biscuits, but honestly I find them nothing alike, and that is the beauty of this side project. It is also great when band members can start a side project and bring what you love about the band with them but completely create their own thing. Conspirator is hot off the festival season and bring their talents to Buffalo this evening for a night off serious dance music. Kicking things off this evening will be Horizon Wireless and The Manhattan Project, who if you have not caught this project yet, make sure to get their early you will not regret it. Doors are 8pm and tickets will be $23 at the door if you do not already have them.
