When the Miss Buffalo II sets off tonight, it will be packed with pumped up partygoers ready to dance. Capsized! Boat Cruise is a biannual danceparty boat cruise that bookends the Summer on Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day weekend. This event is put on by MNM Presents, and is in my opinion the best and most fun party of the year in Buffalo!
This edition will feature CODES of Slow Roast Records. He is part if the new generation of versatile American house DJs. He tends to mix with great range, sometimes funky, deep, and even poppy.
Tonight's cruise is SOLD OUT. It usually sells out a week or two before because the Capacity is somewhere under two hundred. Sometimes people find a miracle down at the dock at the last second.

An incredible amount of attention is merited for the artists in Buffalo. Musicians, Painters, Visual Artists, Dancers, Poets and everyone contained in creative processes are pushing the conventions of their established arts. The hotbed of artistic behavior that Buffalo has become has offered such freedom of expression.
The theme of this post will be mediums of artistry converging. Which is exactly what is being promulgated in Dances and Parties around town. Two showcases are to be held on Friday night of this nature. Sunday offers the best bi-annual party in Buffalo, the Capsized! boat aboard the Miss Buffalo II, for more info see below.

MISS BUFFALO II
erie basin marina, Buffalo, NY The plan on Labor Day Monday is usually sitting around all day recovering from celebrations. To reinforce this idea make sure to get tickets and get on the boat! The CAPSIZED! danceparty boat cruise that is. For over seven years, MNM Presents has gathered up many of Buffalo's best and brightest dance music aficionados and congregated them all at this floating ragefest. This party is always fun, there's no getting around it, or off the boat once it pulls slowly out of the harbor, and the heavy house beat begins to pound off of the water. Past installments have featured some really popular artists and some that gained in popularity afterwards. This run will call THE JUNKIES down from Toronto. Two DJs I was unfamiliar with until recently, but they have been doing some cool stuff on the label Sci+Tec recently like performing in Barcelona for the East Ender festival. Check out the video below from Footwork Nightclub in Toronto, one of my favorite clubs in TDot. The Junkies real names are super Italiano, and since I love stereo-types I'll add that they're probably damn good house DJs. Also for those in attendance there will be an afterparty for which you can gain FREE admittance only with a boat ticket held at Duke's Bohemian Grove Bar 253 allen st. Buffalo, NY. Find the information about that party HERE.
See you all on the boat, unless you miss it! Much Love.
If partying on a boat is on your bucket list, then tonight is your lucky night. The Queen City Cartel crew is hosting OVERBOARD. For each hour between 6-9, two DJs will be going back-to-back. A healthy battle, the musicians will be demonstrating their skill work, techniques, and impeccable track selection. Start dancing once the boat sets sail.

2nd Round: Stuntman vs. Mario Bee
3rd Round: Esbie vs. Medison

In and out of Buffalo like she's the main B. Everybody's try to get out and hit the road for that Summer rush. Camp Bisco is this weekend, and NYC is a hotbed every weekend from here until Labor Day. So if the Queen City's got you clogged up, it may be time to cleanse out on the road for a few days. But for those who are staying put and wanna party there's a lot going on. The Harbor shows this weekend are huge attractions, and for those who wanna hit the late-night paths of this fair City this is where it's at. friday 7/13

Be safe kids at Bisco, don't eat any nitrous brownies. Much Love.
Big ups to everyone who made it through last weekend alive. Shout out to those still recovering from the craziness that was Memorial Day weekend. Ya did good Buffalo, for the most part. On Friday at the Town Ballroom Roni Size was scarcely attended for someone being billed as a Drum and Bass legend. It's not that he isn't that. It's a lack of interest and knowledge in Drum and Bass from the younger generation of concert goers. Simply put, the kids just aren't listening to it at the moment. The older stuff that is. The preference of raver kiddos is perverted Dubstep. It has become so perverted in fact, that Rolling Stone The Big Issue featured a blurb with Skrillex about dissecting "the drop." Making broad claims about the DJs device, a la revealing the magicians secrets, that this is how all DJs fool you into liking their music and going apeshit wild at a show. The author seems to generalize said "drop" as a device used all the time by DJs of every genre in EDM. Skrillex even talks about how his fans want that solo kick-drum buildup climaxing with a glitchy saw-wave laser gun. No. No! NO! That's wrong, that's only Bro-step. The popular lens through which people see Electronic Dance Music is one depicting tricks (fake DJs) and treats (drugs), and although none of us want that to be accurate, how far is that actually from the truth? We found love in a hopeless place. True respect for those guys doing it the right way. Totally. Originally. Guy's like Munchi, like Heartbreak, like Jon fucking Kwest, like the Freshmore crew. Keeping it real. Staying in shitty hotels. Speaking matter-of-factly. Being real as fuck. Great job Queen City Cartel in organizing the first "Field Day" on Allen st. It was a great time, and there is a great foundation for an event that can only get better. An event that continues to rule, and also the talk of last weekend was the Capsized! boat cruise on the Miss Buffalo II. Once again, THE BEST way to kick off summer. Something about that party brings out the very best (worst) in folks. Thanks to Alexi Delano, another down-to-earth guy, who shared everything he had to offer Buffalo. There's rumblings of a QCC boat party in mid-July so look for that to be announced soon. Also coming up next weekend is the NuSkool Pirates ELATION event. check back next week for a preview on that. This weekend is a bit light (thank god), but there's one highlighted event and a few new things to mention below:

DBGB'S
253 allen st. Buffalo, NY
Cool Deep House and Techno show this Saturday at Duke's featuring BLUE BUDDHA out of Pittsburgh. I can tell you that he is a Minimal Techno specialist, taking a lot from guys like Alexi Delano. So if that type of heady sophisticated party sound is your jam, then you'll wanna check his set out. Also on the bill will be BRANON CHASE, PAUL KUENZI, SYSTMTK.DELETION, and TRAKBENDERS with ROB DECKER. I recently listened to TRAKBENDERS Field Day 2012 promo, and it really puts you in a Summertime frame of mind. Listen below.
A few new nights are getting started this weekend including DSTAR headlining Factory Fridays at Skybar, Fusion Fridays at Noir with SWAGGLEROCK, and SUNGLASSES MIKE on Friday nights at Purple Monkey. Those are the new Chippewa options for Friday in the summertime. Also SWAGGLEROCK on the patio at SOCIAL on Saturdays, always a fun time.
Stay sassy Buffalo, your Facebook fodder makes for hilarious entertainment. Much Love.

Buffalo should officially nickname Memorial Day weekend “Kick-Off the Summer Crazy Party Weekend Grilling Extravaganza Festival of American Awesomeness.” That doesn’t exactly have a very good ring to it, but it encompasses what’s about to happen this weekend here in the city. Buffalo has an obligatory love for holidays that allow for a little letting-loose, but Memorial Day is our official *official start of Summer. It’s true. Usually it’s nice out. And people of all ages are outside enjoying the prospect of an extra free day to relax. If you choose to believe in the sorcery that is weather prediction, this weekend is shaping up to be hot and shiny.
Two and now three years ago there was the UNITE music festival which was a 3 day multi-venue EDM event over the Memorial Day weekend. Although it never took flight and continued annually, it was a great concept for the fans. This year may mark the ushering in for a new event. The Queen City Cartel presents: Field Day 2012, long anticipated since it’s announcement, is the talk of the music scene. The unique event will temporarily shut down the end of Allen street near the bend at Wadsworth for a sponsored Outdoor/Indoor one-day all-day Electronic Dance Music Party! To see that type of music, my kind of music, out in the street, out in the open, will truly be meaningful. It is a huge accomplishment for the Queen City Cartel, and in general it is a testament to the strength and familial nature of the participants in the scene. I hope everyone shares this general vision. This weekend also features the annual Capsized! party, a dance-party cruise on the Miss Buffalo II, which is the first milestone of Summer. I somehow forgot to mention that Drum & Bass innovator Roni Size will be gracing us with a rare set on Friday to kick off this weekend. For all three events you’ll find more details below. Happy KOSCPWGEFAA!

10p-330a $20/All Ages TOWN BALLROOM 681 main st. Buffalo, NY Legend is such an over used word, but don’t let the term pass over RONI SIZE. When my friend and I started listening to DnB music in middle school, Roni Size was discovery that he shared with me. That was back in 1998. Which is roughly about 11 years after Roni Size began to make a name for himself as a DJ/Producer. That’s just to give you an idea as to how long this guy’s been around, this music’s been around. Saturday will be his first show in the United States, making a brief stop over here to hit up Movement (DEMF) in Detroit and a couple other America; we’re just kinda lucky enough to get him for Friday night to kick off the weekend’s festivities. The Ballroom has once again agreed to go later than their usual stopping time. And the event will feature Drum and Bass in the Main room, and Old-School vinyl breaks in the front room. Performances on the night from: RONI SIZE, HOOGS, D.A. DOGG, LOKI, PERCEPTOR, 3PO, and MCNASTY.
saturday 5/26
2p-4a FREE Outdoors/$20 pre-sale all access bars ALLENTOWN: DBGB’S/SAMPLE/THE BEND allen st. near wadsworth st. This is what we’ve all been waiting for. The outdoor portion of the concert is open to all ages and is free of charge. To see selected performances in the bars you will have to be 21+ and purchase either tickets a la carte, or an all access pass. The schedule will be released today, but the lineup consists of 6 headliners and over 30 regional DJs eventually moving inside and playing into the wee hours of the morning. Fellow BuffaBLOGGER Alicia Greco has been previewing each of the headliners each day this past week which can easily be found by typing in the tag “field day” into the search bar at the top of this page. Read up on these headliners, because they are all very talented. And on a personal note, the main guy, the big cheese on the bill, MUNCHI, just happens to be my favorite DJ/Producer right now, and he really kinda has been since I first heard of Moombahton a little over a year and a half ago now. As I hinted at previously, I hope everyone can look at this event as a monument of achievements for the Buffalo dance music scene. Cheers to all the hard work from the performers and promoters, and to the dedication of the fans.
The Boat party is the quintessential way to begin and end the Summer. This installment is the 7th anniversary of the party on Memorial Day Eve. It sells out every time, and it is hard for people not to enjoy themselves whether in rain or shine. It's a true wonder how no one has ever fallen overboard the side judging by how much fun everyone has. This year will feature Swedish Techno Producer/DJ Alexi Delano. Dress to impress, because the hotness it always brought on the boat.
