Tonight: Sleepy Hahas, Bearhunter, and more

Saturday night is alright for fighting, as long as you’re names are either Sir Elton John or Floyd Mayweather (however if you’re reading this I’m assuming you're not one of these men) other than that you best put the gloves away. However Saturday night isn’t only for prizefighters and grammy winners, oh no, there’s a little fun in store for all of us.

For the general non trophy/ title holding population, Saturday night is perfect for cutting loose and checking out some local bands. It’s not every weekend you get a show like this waving its ass in your face begging for you to give it firm slap. The Sleepy Hahas, Bearhunter, Johnny Nobody, and Wonder & Fury will be taking the stage at Mr. Goodbar this fine evening, and hey mother nature is supposed to grace us with some double digit temperatures too. The Sleepy Hahas will be bringing the ‘chain smoking, bird flippin, wife stealin’ neo grease rock n roll’ along with fellow rust belters Bearhunter, Johnny Nobody and Philadelphia's Wonder & Fury. Besides, what else are you going to do, stay home and watch the cast of Saturday Night Live “try.”

The show kicks off at 9pm at Mr. Goodbar (upstairs) 1110 Elmwood Avenue. Five bucks at the door.

Tonight: RADARADA w/Matt Script

Mr. Goodbar and the mysterious Mr. Goodbar upstairs have been booking some great up-and-coming acts as of late. Case in point, tonight they play host to chill-hop sixsome, RADARADA, and Buffalo-born, Chicago-rewired, exported back to Buffalo, Matt Script. Both of these bands were noted back in early January as the top five(ish) acts to watch out for in 2014. For first timers, RADARADA is a live instrument hip-hop act, similar to The Roots or early Gym Class Heroes (pre-“New Friend Request”). Script is quite the opposite. When running solo, Matt Script depends on a looper to bring his sound together to make complicated one man band indie-pop gems comparable to that of Matt Pond or Blood Orange. Acts go on around 11pm and there is a $3 cover. Check below to see what you are in store for.

Tonight: All of Them Witches, The Malones, and The Etchings

Tonight shall be a night to remember. We have a musical trifecta, All of Them Witches, The Malones, and The Etchings, conjoining at Goodbar tonight. Needless to say, I will be in the front making a scene in excitement. But one thing that will not be exciting is the knowledge that this will be the last Malones show that Buffalo or otherwise shall see...indefinitely. How does that make you feel?

It makes me sad. However, we have an awesome line-up with the mathy All of Them Witches and the indie/pop/alt-rock of The Etchings. Come out; the music starts at 11PM and it's only $3! The show is also 21 and up, so bring dem IDs.

Tonight: The Tins with Bryan Johnson & Family

If you often find yourself moaning about Buffalo's indie rock scene, you should stop searching under the mossy rocks by Hoyt Lake and walk your happy ass through the doors of Mr. Goodbar at 11PM tonight. Outside you will find a cheap, affordable three dollar admission charge and the beginnings of what promises to be a great night. You may have already started your good night and are half in the bag, but that is okay too.

The Tins are Goodbar regulars and thus they are seasoned veterans who know how to give the clientele a damn good show. With admirable and awe inspiring deftness they can make you dance, cry, jump with euphoria, and forget that you are in Mr Goodbar. These guys are good.

Comrades in arms, Bryan Johnson & Family will allow you to do anything but have a bad time. Their upbeat blend of surf rock will have you believe that the snow has already come and gone, and that it's about time for a beach party. Well, you can experience an aural summer party tonight, and be sure to thank Bryan Johnson & Family.

Tonight: The Tins and The Malones

Tonight, Buffalo bred acts The Malones and The Tins descend on Mr. Goodbar to collect as much cash as possible before the crowd turns on them and the entire venue transforms into an unstable killing field. Staring down the barrel of a full length album and a lengthy tour, The Malones should be in rare form, proving to the last few stragglers that they mean business and all of Buffalo should be on alert. The Tins, a staple at this point, should almost certainly kill it--they’ve been in the scene so long their songs have white hair.

The festivities kick off at 11pm($3), which leaves you plenty of time to pre-game and do your makeup so good no one from the high school you left behind ten years ago will have a chance in hell at recognizing you. Rage out to your heart’s content and fully abuse the merch table. I don’t personally want to get arrested but I’m more than willing to have someone step up to the plate on my behalf and offend the local populace by throwing down to fan favorites “Dirty Soap” by The Malones and “Please Be Kind” by The Tins. Of course, there’s always the possibility that you hate those songs and aren’t predisposed to violence, so feel free to stay in doors if that’s the case. We’ll fill you in the next time we see you.

Tonight: Aircraft and the Screaming Jeans

Tonight, one of Buffalo's best live bands, Aircraft, will be performing their unique blend of psychedelic 60's-influenced pop. Note: Aircraft's four-way harmonies, keyboards, and other instruments allow their music to have both danceability and indie cred at the same time. Joining them will be the brit-pop folk-rockers in The Screaming Jeans.

The show is at Mr. Goodbar and it starts at 10:00pm. The cover is a mere $3, so you'll have plenty of money left over for an expensive IPA or a hard cider or something... Which reminds me - sorry kiddo, this show is 21+.

Tonight: The Screaming Jeans & The Tins

Two acts, no strangers to playing live and playing live together, will once again join forces this evening at Mr. Goodbar. Having recently nabbed a couple Buffalo Music Awards nominations, the Screaming Jeans have been prepping for a return to the studio early next year to lay down some new tracks. The Tins, meanwhile, have been working on a new EP of their own, in addition to recently recording a Daytrotter session to be released in the near future, so chances are some new tunes could be mixed into this evening's sets for both acts. Music for tonight's double bill of indie pop gets going around 11pm. Cover is $3.
