All good things must come to an end, and Buffalo's 2013 Infringement Fest is nearing that time. We've seen some good bands, watched some stand-out flicks, and dived into the cultural epicenter of Buffalo's counterculture movement. Now is the time to put the beast to bed, at least temporarily, and say goodnight.

But wait! We have one final night to celebrate! If you've made it this far, you might as well take it one step further. Buy the ticket, take the ride. Today marks the last day in the journey, and there's still a few surprises lurking yonder.

As part of the infringement festival closing ceremonies, Nietzches will be hosting an evening party featuring a who's who of unique music acts, including Second Trip (listen below), Jen Whitmore, Wise Medicine as well as a host of other's. This "pay what you can" event also features the Iffy Awards, an audience suggested awards ceremony, which will take place throughout the show (8pm). It's befitting that Nietzches close out the fest, as it is so uniquely tied to our city and the grassroot's spirit of our musical community.

Other notable events include the 500 block of Main streets "Chalkfest" featuring sidewalk square artistry (12-6pm, free), and the avant folk of Shubbalulium which will take place outside of Coming Home Buffalo.

Infringement Fest is about celebrating all things Buffalo. Do your part, and be a part of it. This is about us.

Infringement is making me tired. Too much going on. Oh well. Luckily, the end is near for this year's installment as the festival gears up for what is sure to be a loaded weekend. Despite a great selection of non-Infringement shows scattered over the city, if you want to save some money and stick around Allen, here are a few options for you.

Super Fucking Awesome Thursday
Nietzsche's will host one of our other favorite high school turned college acts this evening, Brimstone Blondes. Normally acts this young are not allowed within sniffing distance of the venue, but I guess Infringement plays by its own rules. Sounding like a hybrid of the B-52's and the Talking Heads, the Blondes future, like their Cascos buddies, is also uncertain due to leaving town for school, but if you haven't had a chance to see one of the best frontman in Buffalo, Matthew Danger Lippman, then this could be one of your last chances. $5 will get you through the doors starting at 8pm. The Simian Sonic Showcase
A four act bill of beats and electronics located down at the 20 Allen St. bar has the best combo of the night: a performance from local beatboxer Scantron and a $5 serving of your favorite Bert's Beach Bum fishbowl...

Lobo Marino
Normally, Betty's is not the first place that comes to mind when thinking Infringment, but the wonderful restaurant has two very good things going for it tonight. The first being the soulful folk sounds of Richmond trio Los Marino, which on its own is quite nice, but second is that every Thursday at Betty's, it's two-for-one at the bar. No word on if that deal is pulled during the fest, but only way* to find out is heading down there to see for your self. Music kicks off at 10:30pm.

*You technically could also just call them.

Buffalo's busiest and most unique summer festival continues today as Infringement kicks off at noon with performances around the city. Sunday's schedule features a typically overwhelming lineup of live music at venues like The Foundry, El Buen Amigo, Rust Belt Books, and Allentown's College Street. Here's a look at some of the shows you'll want to catch amidst all the action.

These are indeed the High Holy Days of Buffalo Summer: summer is at its 'summeriest,' Shakespeare in the Park returns for its round 2,  and the arts establishment pulls out all the stops with great shows. And of course, Buffalo Infringement runs wild across the city for 11 days and nights, with art happenings in all manners of places emphasizing  DIY, standing apart from soul crushing corporate culture, breaking down walls,  reclaiming public space, and adventure. Today is Day 2 of the festival and here's a brief sample of all the wildness and excitement happening in the city (the frankly spectacular full schedule can be found here):

Infringement Festival Sundry Friday Night at Babeville: Starting at 6pm, one of Buffalo's most wonderful spaces will host an "esoteric evening" of music and performance featuring Ancient Alchemy performing "Movement Through Sound Is Sound Through Movement" with audience participation, klezmer music from Ahavaraba, Gander, mind melting avant folk by Shubbaluliuma, and Rochester's one man orchestra 23 Psaegz. $5 is the suggested donation because these things don't pay for themselves (unless you want corporate sponsorship... swine). Space will be the place at Nietzsche's, the spiritual and physical home of Buffalo Infringment, when the mind expanding dance party that is Space Junk kicks off a night of electronic explorations into inner and outer space with DJ Soma, Scantron, and Groove Force.

The beloved Essex Street Pub will be featuring shows on both Fridays of Infringement, with tonight featuring Brooklyn troubadour and Buffalo activist Pete Sorkin (6pm - 7:15pm) and New York indie minimalist visionary David Cloyd  (7:45pm - 9pm).

Hallwalls will be hosting a Friday Film Festival featuring films about the Queen City starting at 7pm, an excellent way to honor our fine city and its local filmmakers.

Milkies on Elmwood will be putting on "Milkie's Musical Mind Melt Masterpiece" from 9pm - 4am featuring Jezkova, N3WT, ghettotronics, PINJA, and Short Circuit. The electronic funk and bass will be heavy, and you will dance.

Have you ever wanted to see a live recreation of one of your favorite childhood video games? Catch some music in a former chop shop? Spend the day on College Street with some of the neighborhood's more interesting residents? Well, you are in luck. The 2013 Buffalo Infringement Festival is ready to kick off and over the next 11 days, Allentown and its nearby surrounding neighborhoods will be packed to the brim with all kinds of performance and visual arts. Basically, if you cannot find an art installation, a musical performance, poetry reading, or anything else that catches your interest, then I don't know what to tell you. Infringement is a weird, overwhelming festival, but it's also kind of a blast. So, as is our tradition, we have once again decided to summarize the highlights of each day to make your life just a bit easier.
