Tonight: Transmission Dance Party

It seems like the days of the dance party are over here in Buffalo. Just a few short years ago our city had themed dance parties every other week (Shock & Awe, Friction, Communist Party) and then, just like that, they were gone. The operating word here is seems.

Buffalo's first, and longest-running dance party, Transmission, is alive and thriving, thanks to a dedicated following, and DJ's who've weathered the trends, to bring us timeless indie and alternative dance music time and time again. Transmission has come to represent a celebration of all things dance, and, along with the Smiths vs. Cure dance party (brought to you by some of the same folks), has been churning out great music and memories for over a decade.

For most of this time Transmission considered Mohawk Place home. Since the venue closed in January, Transmission has been looking for a new place to rest its head and they may have found it in Tudor Lounge, the sight of tonight's festivities (10pm). Personally, I think Tudor is the perfect spot for this event, with its cozy atmosphere and inviting dance floor.

Saturday nights were made for dancing. Get the gear ready and spill out tonight.

Tonight: Electric Love

There's going to be an awesome dance party at Duke's Bohemian Grove Bar tonight! New Horizon Events brings you Electric Love, a night designed for positively letting loose. Electric Love will feature some of Buffalo's best dance music aficionados. This includes Swagglerock, aka Buzz Trillington and Shooter Mcnappin both of whom have been very productive of late with their own music. When put together they are an unstoppable duo of party adaptation. Sunglasses Mike and The Owski will also be on the decks this eve. The both of them are two of Buffalo's best talents, with a specialty of making dance music mixes sexy and provocative. Also performing will be C-Perfect and a surprise special guest DJ! Just added to sponsor the event will be Red Bull, which means there will be featured drink specials if your into destroying yourself.

This event is 21+ Cover charge of $3 at the door. Show begins at 10pm, Duke's Bohemian Grove Bar 253 Allen st. Buffalo, NY.

The Drum Machine Report

Like the air temperature this winter, the climate of collective consciousness is constantly fluctuating in Buffalo. Us positivists are constantly shielding a barrage of bitterness and negativity grown out of many years of hardship and loss. Alas, we are the weight to balance these ideas, the youthful minds who will soon take over this city and lift it forward into the future! The work of change is never-ending, and only willing will rise up.

With the new year comes new happenings. It is a blessing to have some fresh things going on with a couple of new events happening this Friday. The Drum Machine Report focuses on what events and parties are going on that feature all styles of dance music every weekend in the Queen City. Check out what's happening now:

NEKTAR
451 Elmwood Ave. Buffalo, NY
The Guestbook Party is a fresh party for designed for Buffalonians who love EDM to experience something cutting-edge. The idea is to trend away from the misconstrued ideas of what dance music is currently on Chippewa. Lets face it, Buffalo nightclubs are trashy and stupid by comparison to those in big cities. But we as patrons of these venues, and aficionados of dancefloors are not oblivious to what's new and hot. DJ DSTAR and Promoter Sean Coughlin are wanting to bring a small taste of that big-city flavor to the upstate. DSTAR who is one half of the buzzworthy Solidisco is going to be playing mostly Deep House and NuDisco. Nektar is not the first place you think of for a party, but it should be interesting to see what kind of crowd is drawn in. Check out some of the Solidisco music below through their Soundcloud and hear why they are quickly gaining more attention on the national level.

They're going along with the theme that these DJs are going to serve up a buffet of different EDM music for your pleasure. Featuring the styles of House, Techno, Bass, Electro, DnB, and Bass music. This night is also going to feature many new DJs that I haven't ever heard of. So it will be interesting to check this out in the coming months. New music below is from EYES EVERYWHERE, the boys formerly known as hxly.
